Grey area drinking, changing relationships with alcohol and / or alcohol-free living
Helping people that feel overwhelmed, trapped or that they are "not enough", to start believing in themselves again and to find a better way to live
Helping people to gain clarity about what they REALLY want from this one precious life and breaking through barriers to create this
Are you drinking more than you would like or more often than you would like, or finding alcohol is taking more from you than it is giving?
Is your gut instinct telling you that you deserve something more or something different but you keep pushing it down, trying to ignore it, because it's easier that way?
Do you feel that life is passing you by or that it is bringing you a little less than you hoped for?
Are you ready to embrace change, to go after your dreams and take that first step towards the life that you truly deserve?
The discovery call enables me to learn all about you, I can tell you a little bit more about coaching and what to expect and you can decide whether you think I would be a good fit for you to work with (and vice-versa).
Many people are now making the choice to remove alcohol from their life due to the impact it has on our mental and physical health and are flourishing because of it.
Many drinkers would be described as falling into the category of a “Grey Area Drinker”. Grey area drinking is that vast space between being able to “take it or leave it” and the kind of drinking that would commonly be described as problematic. For many people it isn’t as black and white as having a problem or not and although outwardly there may be no signs that alcohol is having any negative effect at all, it is the way we feel about our drinking that really matters:
Do you find that you question your drinking or have internal dialogue about your alcohol consumption?
Do you try to moderate but find you regularly drink more than you want to?
Do you find that pouring that glass of wine after a long day has become more of a habit than a choice?
Do you drink to combat stress, overwhelm or tiredness as opposed to drinking for enjoyment?
Do you set goals to take a break from drinking but don’t manage to achieve them, or if you do, you pick up right where you left off when you start again?
Whatever your goal is (and it is ok if that changes) we can explore the best way to work towards this. Equally when starting to explore your relationship with alcohol, you don’t have to know what your goal is. If you have a niggling feeling that alcohol is no longer serving you, or that is taking more from you than it is giving, then we can explore all of your options. As well as formal training, I have vast personal experience of working through my own relationship with alcohol so 1-1 coaching will allow us to find what is best for you as an individual.
The discovery call enables me to learn all about you, I can tell you a little bit more about coaching and what to expect and you can decide whether you think I would be a good fit for you to work with (and vice-versa).
Sessions are a guided conversation in which through questioning, exploration and accountability we work towards setting and reaching your goals. Coaching is client-led and therefore the aim of the sessions is to guide you to explore what the answers may be to your own questions, or to find the solutions to your own stumbling blocks.
Through my coaching I provide a safe space for you to be heard, allowing you to explore your thoughts, feeling, hopes, fears and goals. Sessions are led with empathy, are non-judgemental and I will hold you accountable to any goals you set so that real change is achieved. My goal is to look forward to where you want to be and to work with you to get you there.
Work may be done on values, strengths and beliefs to help to determine whether you are living in line with who you really are and the kind of life you really want to live. In addition to this there can often be obstacles in the form of limiting beliefs, negative thought patterns or performance interfering thoughts which can be preventing you from reaching your full potential. Exploration into what these may be and finding solutions to these will form part of the sessions.
Are there changes you desperately want to make to your life but find that there is something holding you back from taking action?
Do you feel that life is passing you by and that there is something more for you, but are unable to put your finger on exactly what this may be?
Do you feel that you have lost your identity or have feelings that you are just "not enough"?
Are you ready to re-build your self esteem, re-dicover who you are really are and take that first step towards creating the life that you truly deserve?
Are you thinking of giving up the booze for the month of May and feel that you would benefit from some extra support? Have you tried to take a break from alcohol before but found it a little difficult, or felt a little isolated doing it alone? Would you like some laughter, accountability, camaraderie and loads of hints, tips and…
After years of feeling trapped, unhappy and overwhelmed I finally managed to walk away from my business and to stop drinking alcohol.
These two huge life changes were achieved little-by-little during weekly sessions of 1-1 coaching.
Being heard, expressing my fears, working out options and setting goals made the seemingly impossible, possible. My life has changed beyond recognition since doing these two things and I feel happier than I have ever felt.
On a part-time basis for the last 2.5 years, I have worked in a psychiatric hospital and have previously volunteered working on the telephones for the Samaritans for 5 years. This has given me experience of working with people who are extremely vulnerable and has provided me with a vast understanding of mental health.
On a personal level I have been privately working on my relationship with alcohol for a number of years. I tried many avenues for moderating and taking a break from alcohol and it was group coaching that enabled me to come to the decision that I wanted to stop drinking alcohol altogether and it was 1-1 coaching made this goal a reality.
Throughout this process I have learned a vast amount about alcohol, different methods for changing relationships with alcohol, taking a break from it or stopping drinking completely.
Having personally experienced ‘change’ and undertaking the coaching process I know first-hand how powerful and life-enhancing good coaching can be.
I also know how it can feel to be stuck and how daunting it can be to take those first steps towards change. I want to help others to break down those barriers, whatever they may be, and to move forwards towards a happier and more fulfilled life. I am empathic and non-judgemental and I hold a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and find your solutions.
